Henna Indigo Usage

1. What is the correct way to use henna?

Mix Natuur Henna Powder with warm water to yogurt consistency. Rest 6–8 hours for dye release. Apply on clean, oil-free hair, cover, and leave 2–4 hours before rinsing with plain water.

2. How do I use indigo after henna?

Apply indigo only on hennaed hair. Mix Natuur Indigo Powder with warm water just before use. Apply immediately, keep 1–2 hours, then rinse with water. Avoid shampoo for 48 hours to deepen colour.

3. How often can henna and indigo be used?

Henna can be used every 3–4 weeks. Indigo may be used as needed for colour maintenance. Overuse is unnecessary; allow hair time to oxidise and settle between applications for best shade, shine, and strength.

4. What can be added to henna for conditioning?

For conditioning, add aloe vera powder, amla, hibiscus, or fenugreek powder. You may also use brewed black tea or coffee as liquid. Add neem juice if suffering from dandruff. Avoid oils before dye release, as they can block colour uptake.

5. Does henna dry hair?

Henna does not damage hair but can feel drying initially. Proper hydration, conditioning herbs, and post-henna oiling after 24 hours restore softness. Regular henna use strengthens hair, improves thickness, and adds natural shine. For best results use Natuur Protein pack for scalp and hair twice a month.

6. Henna and indigo proportions for different hair colours?

For auburn: 100% henna. Brown: two-step henna, then indigo 50–70%. Dark brown: indigo 70–80%. Jet black: full henna followed by 100% indigo. Results vary by base colour and hair porosity.

7. Can henna and indigo be mixed together?

They can be mixed for brown tones, but results are less predictable. For best coverage and lasting colour, Natuur recommends the two-step method—henna first, indigo second—especially for greys or darker shades.

8. How long does henna indigo colour last?

Henna and indigo are strong plant dyes. Colour may soften slightly over weeks but does not wash out completely. Root touch-ups are usually needed every 3–4 weeks, depending on hair growth and desired depth.

9. Is henna safe for chemically treated hair?

Pure henna and indigo are safe on chemically treated hair. Always wait 4–6 weeks after chemical coloring. Perform a strand test, as plant dyes interact uniquely with bleached or porous hair.

10. What should be avoided before and after application?

Avoid oils, conditioners, or silicone products before application. After rinsing, avoid shampoo for 48 hours. Heat styling and chlorinated water should be limited initially to allow color oxidation and longevity. Avoid chemical hair treatments like smoothening or straightening.

Natuur Henna & Indigo Powder

1. How to use natural henna powder for hair colouring?

To use natural henna powder, mix Natuur Henna Powder with warm water until smooth. Rest the paste for 6–8 hours for dye release. Apply on clean, oil-free hair, cover, and leave for 2–4 hours. Rinse thoroughly with water only.

2. How to apply indigo powder after henna?

Indigo powder is applied after henna. Mix Natuur Indigo Powder with warm water immediately before use. Apply on hennaed hair, leave for 1–2 hours, and rinse with plain water. Avoid shampooing for 48 hours to allow natural oxidation.

3. How often should henna and indigo be used on hair?

Henna can be used every 3–4 weeks for grey coverage and strengthening. Indigo may be applied as required to maintain darker shades. Overuse is unnecessary, as plant dyes continue to oxidise and deepen naturally over time.

4. What can be added to henna for conditioning hair?

For conditioning, add aloe vera powder, amla, hibiscus, or fenugreek powder to henna. For dandruff, add neem paste or juice. Brewed black tea or coffee can be used as the mixing liquid. Avoid oils before application, as they can reduce dye absorption.

5. Does natural henna dry out hair?

Pure henna does not damage hair but may feel drying initially. When used with hydrating herbs and followed by post-henna oiling, it strengthens hair shafts, improves thickness, reduces hair fall, and enhances natural shine. For best results, use Natuur Protein Hair pack twice a month, alongwith once a month of Henna Indigo usage.

6. What is the correct henna and indigo ratio for different hair colours?

Auburn hair: 100% Henna
Brown hair: Henna followed by 50–70% Indigo
Dark brown hair: Henna followed by 70–80% Indigo
Natural black hair: Henna followed by 100% Indigo
Results vary based on natural hair colour and porosity.

7. Can henna and indigo powder be mixed together?

Henna and indigo powders can be mixed to create brown shades, but colour results may vary. For consistent grey coverage and long-lasting black or dark brown tones, the two-step method—henna first, indigo second—is recommended.

8. How long does henna and indigo hair colour last?

Henna and indigo are permanent, plant-based hair dyes. The colour does not wash out but may soften slightly over weeks. Root touch-ups are typically required every 3–4 weeks depending on hair growth.

9. Is henna and indigo safe for chemically treated hair?

Yes, pure henna and indigo powders are safe for chemically treated or coloured hair. Wait at least 4–6 weeks after chemical colouring. Always perform a strand test, especially on bleached or highly porous hair.

10. What should be avoided before and after using henna and indigo?

Avoid oils, conditioners, and silicone-based products before application. After rinsing, avoid shampoo for 48 hours. Limit heat styling and chlorinated water exposure initially to ensure colour depth and longevity.
